Christmas Doooo! Empty Christmas Doooo!

Post by Sean Benson Thu Oct 08, 2009 12:24 pm

Well I hate to tell you this folks but theres only about 12 wweks to go before Christmas!!

So Im turning my mind to all things festive and was wondering if there would be much call for a social get together and fundraising evening, where we could all meet up, have a drin or whatever and raise a few quid into the bargain.

Im not sure how many people would be interested and what we might do to raise money without it being too stifling or stuff but let me know your thoughts and if theres enough interest maybe we'll get the 'snow' on the road!

Im interested - any excuse for a good old knees up.

How about hiring a function room at a local pub? If everyone pays £10 this could cover any room charge and my mum can do catering for about £2 per head. She always caters for family parties and my uncle sometime ropes her in to cater for the passing out parade for the police cadets. She has also offered to make a cake which could then either be raffled off or entered into a guess the weight of the cake comp. Any money raised from the raffle and spare out of the £10 could go to the charity.

People could invite partners and friends to maybe boost money???

If I have any more idea's I'll let you know.

Thanks for the offer Kalrie thats lovely.

The point of our Christmas party, historically has been to thanks the volunteers, without whom we couldnt operate. We may then back-fill with paying supporters once we know how many we have to cater for and giving due consideration to the venue capacity.

This year it has been suggested that we use the barn at the Rockingham Arms which should seat between 80-100. So once we have the numbers in from the volunteers etc we will look at rolling it out to the masses.

The problem, historically, has been getting enough people interested in paying for an event like this and also supplying food at a cost effective price.

Maybe this year we will crack it?!

Hiya Guys,

Kath already has us down Smile

I was thinking along the lines of things which can raise money for barc but also the winner gets a bit of money as most people there will already do a lot through out the year so can not press them too much!! Things in mind are like:

domino cards - half money goes to barc half to the winner
small, quick bingo games - again half money to barc half to the winners/s
play your cards right - same principle again as the above and so on

Let me know what other ideas come in and the fundraising committee can get 'on it' lol
