she has had x rays today to check her bladder and kidneys and there is another one on its way out ...
hoping it comes out by itself or otherwise she will need an op to remove it ...not good

Re: christmas at the vets...bladder stones ..
still waiting ...
ordinarily she would have had an op earlier to remove the remaining stone ...but she also has an enlarged kidney . the vet is concerned that this may mean she wouldnt survive the GA .. ..so an op is a last resort realy ..

Fingers crossed for Flopsey, i hope she can part with her stone on her own and soon.
What causes these stones Angie and once a rabbit or guinea pig has had them are they prone to them for life?

Re: christmas at the vets...bladder stones ..
there are several causes ...
too much calcium in their diet is one cause ...although there is usualy other factors present at the same time ..
tumors can cause changes in the kidney function and make up of the urine which can contribute ..
Also bacteria...perhaps from bladder infections can contribute too .
and yes ...once they have had them they are likely to recur if the conditions causing them arnt changed ..

I once went to see the rolling stones, they looked to be a similar size from where i was standing! They were painful too!!!
