Can anyone recommend any good books about dog behaviour and training?

Re: Books
Don't know as yet Sarah but Ive just enrolled on a Dog Psychology course. I'll have a look at the paperwork when they send it through to see if there are any good ones recommended.

Re: Books
Im really looking forward to it. This is just the foundation level which should only take a couple of months to complete. Then I start the actual Psychology course and then the Aggression side course. Afterwards I want to take the Advanced Diploma in Canine Psychology so all in all it will take a couple of years to complete but should be very interesting.

Re: Books
That was Cesars Way which is more about how he got to America and started as a Dog Psychologist rather than the actual training part.
The course is with Compass Education - here's the link. http://www.compass-education.co.uk/
Its a home study course but has had some good reviews on some forums Ive been reading.

Re: Books
Hello
Anyone wanting to gain knowledge in animal psychology should watch the dog whisperer on freeview channel 11. This guy is great with dogs and you can watch and learn at the same time, ways to control your dogs behaviour . Ihope this be of some use.

Re: Books
I like to watch him and have tried some of his techniques, Benson resisted at first but soon got the gist and now is as good as gold ( Benson is my Boss not my dog)

Re: Books
Just to keep you updated - the first assignment is in being marked so fingers crossed ive passed the first module. I can certainly recommend the course its not too easy as you have do some research but on the other hand its not too difficult either.
Sarah - A good book which I have come across is 'the Seven Ages of Your Dog'. by Jan Fennell. (http://www.janfennellthedoglistener.com/books.htm) it is written really well and is very easy to understand.

Re: Books
No problems for me to make the meeting as far as I know.
I would love a job but at the moment I would probably end up causing the dogs more psychological problems
I don't mind of course coming down to the kennels and helping with some basic issues such as pulling on lead and teaching them some basic commands if there are some dogs that haven't had any training at all. I work 09.00hrs to 17.30hrs monday to friday so if there are any evenings where there is someone at the kennels till late I can come straight from work. There is also the weekend.
